LOGOS
Logos is the written word of God, in other words every part of the bible from Genesis to Revelation is Logos the written word of God. Books, chapters and verses may have been written by various authors, but all have been inspired by the Holy Spirit.
The Old Testament was written by scribes on scrolls of very clean animal skins and special black ink. No mistakes were allowed, and very strict rules were in place over spacing, number of letters, between 48 and 61 lines of text and if on inspection any mistakes were found the scroll was destroyed and the scribe had to start again.
The Old Testament is used by many religions as the written word of God and there have been many mathematicians who have found codes in the original Hebrew Torah (the first 5 books of the bible accredited to Moses) and in other parts also. Many bible scholars like Ivan Panin and Chuck Missler have found codes hidden in the scripture that not only authenticate the bible but can contain prophecy and messages. It is almost impossible even with a supercomputer, to find these patterns so either Moses had a giant computer with him, or the bible is the authentic inspired word of God!
The dead sea scrolls have verified many scriptures in modern times and given insight into the times and places. It is interesting that these scrolls have been hidden for nearly 2000 years and only discovered in these end times
We of course don’t read our bible on scrolls in Hebrew, so the hundreds of translations do not have the same guarantee of accuracy so have to be read checking the context and beliefs when the translation was made. An example is the King James version that mentions unicorns.
Deuteronomy 33.17 and his horns are like the horns of unicorns:
Psalm 22.21 Save me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
Isaiah 33.47 And the unicorns shall come down with them,
Just a little bit of information to amuse or annoy. Scotland adopted the unicorn as it’s national animal and has it depicted on it’s royal banner also King James had a coin minted with its impression. There is even a Unicorn day on April 9 (no not April 1)
No doubt there are guided tours to look for any wild unicorns as well as Haggis and Nessie. History tells us St. Columba Scotland’s patron saint chased Nessie off in around 500AD so it must be true.
RHEMA
Rhema is God’s spoken word and is when God gives a believer a word of encouragement or direction either from the scriptures, prophecy or even audible voice.
Matthew 4.4
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Matthew 12:34 – 36 But I say unto you, that every idle word (rhema) that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment
Luke 5.5 And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.”
If you’re reading a particular passage of Scripture, perhaps one you have seen many times before, and you see it in a new light. It is personal to you and may not apply to others but you know that the Lord has highlighted it just for at this particular time.
God wants to communicate with us and He can often do this through rhema words.
The difference between Logos and Rhema can be shown in this way
A man wanted to cross a river, but it was in spate (flooding) He was a believer and had read about the Israelites crossing the Red Sea and as the bible said they crossed on dry land he believed, and prayed for this, then stepped into the water. He Drowned!
Another man was in the same predicament and asked the Lord for help on what he should do. Jesus told him to go up the river a short distance and He would tell him when and where to cross so he did this and lived.
We cannot stand on the Logos but only on the Rhema word.
Logos is knowledge of the written word; Rhema is a relationship with the Word.
